IARC 2011: Entire RF/EMF Spectrum Classified as Possible Human Carcinogen

In 2011, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), a sub-group of the World Health Organisation, classified the entire RF/EMF spectrum as Group 2B – Possible Human Carcinogen. The decision reflected near-unanimous scientific consensus, with a vote of 29 to 1. Download the full report here.

IARC’s 2011 Group 2B classification recognised credible evidence that RF/EMF exposure could increase cancer risk, based on human observations and experimental animal findings, highlighting the need for caution and further research.

Subsequent animal studies have now strengthened these concerns:

♦ In 2018, the $30 million US National Toxicology Program (NTP) study independently found clear evidence of malignant tumours in rats exposed to RF radiation.

♦ An external peer-review panel of 11 scientists praised the NTP study’s methodology, confirming clear evidence of carcinogenic activity.

♦ In 2018–2019, the Italian Ramazzini Institute ten-year study also found clear evidence of malignant tumours in animals exposed to RF radiation.

♦ Both studies were conducted in separate countries by independent laboratories, producing parallel, consistent findings that reinforce the validity of the results.

Despite this, the UK government continues rolling out 4G and 5G networks, involuntarily exposing the population to RF/EMF radiation. In addition, £45 million has been committed to improve wireless connectivity in schools, adding to the widespread exposure from Wi‑Fi and other wireless technologies across homes, workplaces, and public spaces. We are deeply concerned for children, and for the entire population and, ultimately, the planet, as exposure continues to rise globally. (gov.uk) (radiationresearch.org)

Many leading scientists and doctors, including Professor Lennart Hardell (oncologist and epidemiologist), have called for IARC’s classification to be reconsidered and potentially upgraded to Group 1 – Known Human Carcinogen.

These findings underscore that RF/EMF exposure is not harmless, and that enhanced public protection measures are urgently needed.
