The warnings were there long before the global expansion of wireless technology.

In this 2006 recording, Dr. George L. Carlo raises serious concerns about the health risks of information carrying radio waves from mobile phones and wireless devices. He co wrote the book Cell Phones Invisible Hazards in the Wireless Age, highlighting early scientific and public health concerns about wireless exposure.

A landmark Westminster debate raising early concerns about wireless radiation and public health

In February 2007, the Radiation Research Trust held a major debate at the House of Commons titled Combating the dangers of wireless technology, in the Attlee Room at Portcullis House, Westminster. The event was organised and chaired by Eileen O’Connor, Director of the EM Radiation Research Trust, and brought together MPs, scientists, health professionals, industry representatives and the media.

Speakers included the late Dr Ian Gibson MP, former Chair of the UK House of Commons Science and Technology Select Committee (2001–2005), and Dr George Carlo of the Science and Public Policy Institute, Washington DC. Dr Gibson also served as a trustee of our charity.

Dr Carlo has published more than 150 papers in public health, workplace safety and consumer protection.

Following the debate, a photograph captured Andrew Mitchell MP, Eileen O’Connor, Dr George Carlo and Dr Ian Gibson MP, marking an important moment in early parliamentary engagement on wireless health concerns, and reflecting our involvement in bringing this issue into the parliamentary space.
