⚠️ New Study: Wi-Fi in Classrooms Raises EMF Exposure Especially in Children

A new peer-reviewed study shows that using wireless laptops in classrooms can significantly increase children’s exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs).

Image from the paper – Fig. 6
‘Child model showing the 3 regions for which the psSAR is calculated: (a) the head, (b) the back and (c) the hands.’

In some classroom setups, EMF exposure was up to:

  • 45 times higher at the head
  • 40 times higher at the back
  • 4 times higher at the hands

Even small increases in desk spacing (10–50 cm) greatly reduced this exposure by up to 90%.

Note: The study only used the 2.45 GHz Wi-Fi band. The more powerful 5 GHz band common in modern Wi-Fi was not simulated. This would have increased the mesh by 10-fold. This means real-world exposure could be even higher.

📣 Key conclusion from the authors:

“ Wireless communications should be avoided in places where people could stay for long time, such as in the classrooms, libraries, offices, homes, etc., and the devices should then be connected using cables(e. g., ethernet or fiber optic), increasing therefore the bandwidth and reducing energy consumption.”

It’s time to protect children by prioritising safe, wired technology in schools and homes.
