Teen Screen Addiction Linked to Higher Suicide Risk, US Study Finds”

A major US study has found that teens hooked on phones and social media face higher risks of depression, anxiety and suicidal behaviour.

Researchers tracked over 4,000 children from age 9–10 for four years. Nearly a third developed addictive social media use and a quarter became addicted to phones. Those showing compulsive patterns were much more likely to struggle with mental health problems and suicide risk.

“Parents should watch for signs of addictive use,” warned study co-author Dr. Yuan Meng.
