Protect Public Health and the Environment – Have Your Say Before the NPPF Consultation Closes on 10th March 2026

6th March 2026

The EM Radiation Research Trust has submitted a formal response to the UK Government’s consultation on proposed reforms to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). Our response highlights the urgent need for planning policies that safeguard public health, protect vulnerable populations, and preserve sensitive environments from radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic fields emitted by wireless technologies, including mobile phones, Wi-Fi, smart meters, and emerging 4G/5G infrastructure.

We call for:

♦ Stronger consideration of cumulative RF exposure
♦ Independent assessment and verification of telecommunications infrastructure
♦ Application of the precautionary principle for homes, schools, hospitals, and protected ecological sites
♦ Guidance and tools to support local councillors in making safe, evidence-based planning decisions
