‘NEW YORK STATE (WRGB) — Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara has announced the introduction of a new consumer protection bill aimed at putting an end to unfair utility fees imposed when residents choose to opt out of digital or smart meter installations.
The new legislation, titled The Consumer Utility Meter Choice Protection Act, ensures that New Yorkers who prefer to retain traditional analog meters will not be burdened with additional fees, reinforcing consumer rights and promoting transparency.’
