Freedom of Information Response from the UK Health Security Agency – members of the public wearing pacemakers need to avoid phone masts exclusion zones.
Information received directly from the UK Health Security Agency via a Freedom of Information request said, “Members of the public should be protected if they respect the ICNIRP exclusion zones.”

The EM Radiation Research Trust would like to know how members of the public who rely on life saving active implantable medical devices (AIMD) can avoid exclusion zones to protect themselves from harm from RF/EMF radiation when the UK Government, Industry, and planning officials are not supplying details of exclusion zones?
The MBNL compliance manual maps out exclusion zone distances (MBNL is jointly owned by EE and Three so all their H3G antennae’s are meant to comply with this). Example of an exclusion zone.
According to ICNIRP calculations, in the above diagram, the brown part is unsafe for everyone, and the green part, named the public exclusion zone, is only meant to be occupied by workers who are there for a limited amount of time. The public should not go inside the green zone. Currently phone masts are placed directly next to homes, schools, hospitals etc with radiation penetrating directly into buildings and therefore placing the public directly within exclusion zones and planning officials are granting permission. Steven Thomas challenged this situation within the courts. The Judge said “the authorities failure to address potential impacts on medical implants was an error, as EMFs could interfere with the function of such implants.” The Council appealed against this decision and this appeal has been dismissed in March 2025 the Judge agreed that the previous Judge was right to identify that the Planning Officer fell into error. 👉 https://www.radiationresearch.org/news/medical-implants-5g-steven-thomas-v-cheltenham-borough-council/

Logic dictates that with HSA’s warning of radiofrequency-electromagnetic radiation interference with medical devices, it cannot also state that children with their inherent vulnerability to radiofrequency-electromagnetic radiation will remain unharmed.
→ Guidance
The public and especially those who are wearing pacemakers and active implantable medical devices should be protected and not required to accept phone masts next to their homes, schools, workplace, hospitals etc.
→ Action
Stop the roll-out of 5G and immediately remove all masts that are within the exclusion zones. Call for a full review of the planning process and adopt biologically based guidelines to protect the public, wildlife, and the environment.
The EM Radiation Research Trust encourage members of the public to send this alert to MP’s, councillors, planning officials.
