đŸ“¶ Check Your 4G & 5G Coverage – But Don’t Forget the Health Risks

Ofcom has launched an upgraded UK mobile coverage checker that lets people view detailed 4G and 5G signal strength by postcode. Explore it here: Ofcom Coverage Checker Report

Sir Chris Bryant MP, Telecoms Minister in 2025, said: “Access to fast and reliable mobile coverage is essential for delivering the change our country needs to thrive and boost economic growth. For too long there has been a frustrating gap between coverage reports and the real signal people experience in their daily lives.
This new tool provides consumers with accurate, postcode-level information so they have the power to choose the network that works where they need it most – whether at home, work or on their commute. It is fantastic to see this practical step being implemented to improve connectivity for everybody across the nation.”

While connectivity is celebrated by Sir Chris Bryant MP, the EM Radiation Research Trust reminds the public that health risks from radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic fields remain unaddressed. Over a year ago, we sent a detailed letter to Sir Chris Bryant, highlighting:

♩ Concerns about £500 million of taxpayer funding being used to expand mobile masts, including in the countryside, National Parks, and “non-spot” areas, leaving no place free from exposure.

♩ Evidence from independent research, including the Dr Paul Heroux paper. Within our February 2025 letter, we invited one of our scientific advisors, Dr Shirin Joseph, to provide her views on Heroux’s report. She said: “The conclusion of this paper is damning of the current agenda for the use of wireless technology and 5G masts over and above the protection of health. Heroux says that the use of wireless technology is supported by the military and convenience outweighs health and safety in the civilian realm which states: ‘If your environment is made to mimic a theatre of war, it will not be a theater of health.’ The reason he says this is because currently governments are ignoring the massive amount of scientific data showing adverse effects of non-thermal electromagnetic radiation associated with masts
The harm caused to populations will be to their ability to fight chronic diseases like cancer, make them prone to Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and diabetes, and cause infertility
Waiting ten or twenty years to correlate an increased incidence of all these chronic diseases will be like waiting for people to develop asbestosis from asbestos exposure.”

Key Health Risks and Urgent Calls for Protection

♩ The potential for long-term health harms including cancer, neurological diseases, infertility, and effects on chronic disease susceptibility.
♩ Risks to vulnerable populations, including children, pregnant women, people with electrosensitivity, and those with medical implants.
♩ Legal precedents showing that UK authorities have previously failed to consider health impacts from masts and that human rights protections for children and the public are being ignored.
♩ Calls for independent health monitoring, precautionary measures, and public guidance, alongside safer alternatives.

Reasons for Concern

A mechanistic understanding of human magnetoreception validates the phenomenon of electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS)

Henshaw and Phillips (2024), one of the most read papers in the International Journal of Radiation Biology over the past year, highlights that almost all life on earth is magnetosensitive and raises serious questions about the sharp rise in artificial radiation exposures and potential biological consequences. This important paper is also featured in our report – GLOBAL ALERT: A PLANETARY THREAT HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHTFigure 2 from Henshaw & Philips (2024) demonstrates the dramatic scale of biological disruption from man‑made electromagnetic fields across life on Earth.

Stronger signals do not remove potential health risks. We continue to call on the government to prioritise public safety alongside network expansion, ensuring informed consent, independent monitoring, and transparent guidance for all UK residents.

Outstanding Natural Beauty. While coverage may be improving, the EM Radiation Research Trust reminds everyone that health and safety concerns remain.
