The Pittsfield Cell Tower Case Mirrors Wishaw, UK

I’m sharing this image not to focus on myself, but to honour the journey so many of us have been forced to take. This photo was taken a few years after my breast cancer diagnosis, during my battle to have the Wishaw phone mast removed. It represents not just my own experience, but the collective fight of a community that refused to be silent in the face of harm.

Now, a similar story is unfolding across the Atlantic.

In Pittsfield, Massachusetts, medical experts have presented strong evidence linking cell tower radiation to serious health effects including headaches, nausea, and even cancer. Since a tower was activated in the Alma Street neighbourhood last year, more than a dozen residents have reported these symptoms.

One of the experts, Dr. Magda Havas who is also one of our trusted scientific advisors at the EM Radiation Research Trust recommended a temporary four-day shutoff of the tower to observe any changes in residents’ health. This simple step could reveal important insights. But why should people have to suffer first in order to prove harm? The Pittsfield phone mast must be removed.

I know from personal experience how real and urgent this issue is.
After developing breast cancer while living near the Wishaw phone mast in Sutton Coldfield, UK, my white blood cell count recovered within days of leaving the area, as confirmed in my medical records. The Director of Public Health at the time agreed to testing for nearby residents and everyone tested was found to be suffering.

We must not allow people to be used as guinea pigs for the sake of a wireless phone call or a faster download. No one should have to sacrifice their health for technological convenience.

The cancer cluster in Wishaw in 2001 should have been recognised as an early warning sign and a clear red flag about the potential health risks of wireless radiation. Even with earlier generations of this technology, people were becoming seriously ill.

Instead of heeding those warnings and applying the precautionary principle, we’ve seen even more powerful networks rolled out without proper safety testing. Wishaw was not an isolated case and it’s why we continue to raise the alarm today.

The pattern is global. The science is clear. The suffering is real. It’s time to stop ignoring it.

In solidarity with those speaking out in Pittsfield and in every community facing this issue.
